The Speak Good English Movement (SGEM) is a Singapore Government campaign to encourage Singaporeans to speak grammatically correct English that is universally understood. It was launched by then-Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong on 29 April 2000. The purpose was to ensure that Singaporeans recognise the importance of speaking Standard English and to encourage its usage. It is seen as a measure to counter the usage of Singapore Colloquial English, known as Singlish. In 2020, Speak Good English Movement launched their official Instagram page to better engage with their audiences.
I played a key role in launching Speak Good English Movement's Instagram page by crafting interactive social media visuals. These engaging visuals, including quizzes, pronunciation guides, and educational materials, were infused with vibrant colors and playful elements to shout out that learning doesn't have to be dull – it's all about having a blast!
