Glow Up is a mini e-recycling campaign created by me and a group of friends, aiming to encourage our target audience to experience a ‘warm-glow’ when engaging in e-recycling behaviour. ‘Warm-glow’ is the emotional reward a person receives after performing an altruistic action and represents the pleasure derived from “doing good”. Our campaign strategy was formed with the overall goal of igniting motivation amongst Singaporean young adults to e-recycle.

We designed a mobile application, Glow Up, to achieve this goal. The name Glow Up was a reference to the ‘warm-glow’ we aim for our target audience to experience when engaging in e-recycling behaviour. In modern colloquial terms, the slang “glow up” also refers to a personal transformation. The muted colour palette of Glow Up serves to speak to the app users with a soft and encouraging voice. This is also communicated through the rounded edges of all design elements throughout the app interface.
